Adele's story:

"IN MY CASE (a retired 22 year veteran) I HAVE RECIEVED ZERO BENEFITS FROM SISIP!!

SISIP has been denying my claim for long term disability (LTD) benefits since my release from the Canadian Armed Forces in 2005. The SISIP powers-that-be stated in a letter dated 9 November 2009 that because I was 'originally' released under a non-medical category (called a 5C release), my disabilities were not considered 'total disability', SISIP LTD benefits were denied.

Despite the Department of National Defence letter that I provided SISIP admitting that an administrative error had been made on my release category and that indeed I was (retroactively) medically released (called a 3B release). Under a medical-release category, SISIP LTD benefits begin upon release date, but are clawed-back, reduced because the veteran is recieving a disability pension.

I was denied all SISIP benefits because of a clerical error. Despite the fact that my military injuries are both physical and mental (PTSD). This refusal of benefits has been a severe blow to me and my family. My requests to be acknowledged and treated with the same respect given other disabled veterans have been systemically ignored.

Now, SISIP has also refused to review my case based on the passage of time.

I have joined the Class Action suit against SISIP's claw back, but that may take years. I would appreciate your support in our efforts to recieve fairness from our SISIP Plan.

I wrote this letter to my member of Parliament, Mr. Collin Mayes.
